Ben Sutton is a Senior Technical Leader in the Advanced Nuclear Technology Program. Ben conducts research and leads a portfolio of projects related to Advanced Manufacturing and Materials within the nuclear industry.  This research includes topics such as material qualification for advanced reactor service, developing and qualifying advanced manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing and PM-HIP), and identifying and developing new or improved methods for joining, inspecting, and maintaining piping and components. Prior to joining the Advanced Nuclear Technology Program, Ben worked in EPRI’s Welding & Repair Technology Center where he led research in the areas of materials joining and manufacturing, novel repair and mitigation processes, materials characterization, and weldability evaluations in support of the existing global light water reactor fleet. Ben holds BS and MS degrees in Welding Engineering and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University.
