Dr. Hasan Charkas has more than 23 years of experience in research and engineering and is a Senior Principal Team Leader in the Advanced Nuclear Technology program. Hasan manages a team of technical leaders on engineering design, autonomous operations, commissioning, construction, and project execution and optimization research areas to help deploy new nuclear power plants around the world. He also leads EPRI’s nuclear research on digital twins. Prior to joining EPRI, Hasan was engineering supervisor for vessel internals engineering qualifications for Framatome Inc, Lynchburg, Virginia, USA. He directed and managed engineers responsible for qualifications and stress calculations of components for nuclear steam supply systems (NSSS). Hasan is a professional engineer licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Hasan holds a Ph.D. in structural engineering and engineering mechanics from Kansas State University, USA.
